It Takes Two: A Recital of Favourite Duets

Concept
Opera Prelude presented Callie Gaston (soprano), Amy Lyddon (mezzo), Ed Ballard (baritone) and Laurie O’Brien (piano) performing ‘It Takes Two: A Recital of Favourite Duets’ at the Holy Trinity Church on Sloane Street, London.
We were there to document this event.
Execution
In this celebration of song and opera the performers explored the wealth of repertoire available for pairs of voices. Gala concerts tend to be solo affairs – with the odd duet thrown in for good measure. It is rare to have an opportunity to work on the intricacies of singing as a pair – and yet so many famous duets are met with rapturous responses. The photographs had to be taken with great care not to disturb the audience’s appreciation of the event.
Results
The unique and grand surroundings of the church coupled with the intimate performances created an exclusive atmosphere for the audience. Pieces such as Barcarolle from Les Contes d’Hoffmann, the famous Pearl Fishers Duet and Humperdinck’s Evening Prayer were performed. Art Song duets such as lieder by Schumann, Mendelssohn and Brahms as well as French chanson by the likes of Massenet and Chausson were also presented.
The photographs are being used in Opera Prelude’s social media feeds and for future digital and printed marketing.
